Staley earns NE-10 Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week accolades
Grubel named Track Rookie of the Week

Staley has earned NE-10 Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors for the first time during the outdoor season after collecting Field Rookie of the Week honors four times during the indoor season. Grubel collects Track Rookie of the Week for the first time outdoors after receiving the award once during the indoor season as well.

Staley won the high jump to help highlight Stonehill's efforts at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell, on Saturday. His winning height of 6-feet, 8.75-inches provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo., next month. It also marks the first time Staley has placed higher than teammate and junior All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) head to head in a competition as the former indoor high jump national champion finished third with a height of 6-feet, 7.75-inches. Staley also finished 21^st in the long jump with a distance of 19-feet, 3.5-inches, and 44^th in the 200-meter dash in 24.07-seconds on Saturday.

Staley, who is currently ranked 13^th nationally for the high jump during the outdoor season, earned All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following his first collegiate indoor season in the high jump with his season-best leap of 6-feet, 10.25-inches at the Charley Torpey Memorial Invitational that provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished ranked 17^th nationally. He also earned All-New England honors with his fourth place finish at the New England Championships (6-8.25). Staley placed fourth in the Skyhawks first outdoor meet of the season at the University of Connecticut with his leap of 6-6.36.

Grubel turned in three top ten finishes for Stonehill on Saturday, highlighted by running the anchor leg for the Skyhawks first place 4x100-meter relay team that posted a time of 42.69-seconds. He also placed sixth (out of 47 sprinters) in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.14-seconds and finished ninth (out of 62) in the 200-meter dash in 22.65.

Grubel posted a first place finish in the 200-meter dash at the Reggie Poyau Invitational, hosted by Brandeis during the indoor season, with a time of 23.64-seconds, and his season-best time came at the New England Championships at 22.55-seconds to place 22^nd. He posted a season-best time of 6.68-seconds in the 55-meter dash final at the New Hampshire Tri-Meet in January and his season-best 60-meter dash time of 7.26-seconds was good for 12^th at the Charley Torpey Memorial at Rhode Island. Grubel is also a member of the football team at Stonehill.

Stonehill, ranked fourth in this week's USTFCCCA East Regional rankings index, is back in action on Saturday when it hosts its annual Skyhawks Invitational on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.
