Thomas a double-winner for third time this season, provisionally qualifies for nationals in hurdles
Stonehill compiled 63.50 points, just 5.5 behind the University of Massachusetts and Central Connecticut State University who shared third with 69 points each. Host Northeastern won the event with 118.50 points, while Brown University took second with 70.
Sophomore All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) was a double-winner for the second-straight week and third time this season overall (in just four meets) with victories in the 55-meter high hurdles and high jump – where he was victorious for the fourth time in as many meets this winter. Thomas took the hurdles final with his NCAA Division II Championships provisional qualifying time of 7.51-seconds to edge Tyler Cotto from UMass by 0.01 seconds. Thomas qualified second for the final with his time of 7.64-seconds. His time in the final is the fourth-fastest qualifying standard in Division II so far this winter. Freshman Xavier Harris-Dixon (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) placed fourth by just 0.003 seconds with his time of 7.849-seconds in the final after qualifying fifth with a time of 7.92-seconds in the prelims.
Thomas completed his double by winning the high jump after he cleared 7-feet, 0.25-inches – more than four inches higher than the second place finisher.

Stonehill also earned a first place finish in the distance medley relay race with a time of 10:20.46, topping second place Northeastern by almost two seconds. Running the event for the Skyhawks were seniors Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn./Newington), Nathan Morse (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Name) and Patrick Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) and sophomore Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep)
Morse also set a school record and qualified for the New England Championships in the 500-meter dash with his time of 1:05.19. He surpassed the previous school record of 1:05.33 set by Derek Hebert at the IC4A's at Boston University on March 4, 2007. Junior Pak Lul (Portland, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) placed seventh (out of 30 competitors) in the event in 1:05.41 to qualify for New Englands.
Hanlon finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.66 to qualify for the New England Championships. Freshman Justin Blaszczyk (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) was 11th (out of 34 competitors) in the event with a time of 1:57.97.
Fullerton qualified for New Englands in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:29.08 to finish fifth overall. Sophomore Samuel Spencer (Seekonk, Mass./Seekonk) was ninth (out of 31) in the event in 2:32.32.
Pilz qualified for the New England Championships next month in the mile run with his time of 4:15.96 to finish sixth overall (out of 71 competitors). Sophomore Timothy Johnson (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) placed 17th in 4:20.81, while senior Zachary Lankow (Saugus, Mass./St. John's Prep) was 21st in 4:22.71.

Junior Dan Kincade (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield), who already holds the school's indoor shot put record (51-08.50), added the school mark in the weight throw with his toss of 49-feet, 7.75 inches, to place tenth (out of 28 competitors). He broke the previous record of 49-05.00 set by Matt Ellis at the Northeast-10 Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, on February 16, 2002.
Freshman Ryan Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's) placed fifth in the pole vault by clearing a height of 12-feet, 11.75-inches.
Junior Stephen Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) finished seventh (out of 22) in the 5000-meter run in 15:05.79. Senior Daniel Fidler (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) placed tenth in 15:19.56.
Junior John Driscoll (Revere, Mass./Revere) took eighth (out of 61 competitors) in the 200-meter dash in 22.98-seconds.
Senior Patrick Fanning (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) was 19th in the shot put with a throw of 42-feet, 10.75-inches.
Freshman Michael Harris (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) placed 21st (out of 42 sprinters) in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.88-seconds.
