BOSTON, Mass. (January 29, 2010) - The Stonehill College men's indoor track and field team placed sixth out of 18 teams at the Reebok Boston Indoor Collegiate Games, hosted by Northeastern University, at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, tonight. The Skyhawks were second among NCAA Division II and III programs at the event and first among Division II and Northeast-10 Conference members.

Stonehill compiled 44 points on the night, while the University of New Hampshire took the team competition with 95.50 points to edge host Northeastern with 90 points.

Freshman Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) highlighted the event once again for Stonehill as he won the high jump with a program-record and NCAA Division II Championship automatic qualifying jump of 7'1" (2.16m) - the highest leap in all of Division II so far this season. The jump bettered his previous school record set last weekend at the Wheaton Invitational of 6'9.48". Senior Joseph D'Agostino (Canton, Mass./Canton) placed second right behind Thomas at 6'8" (2.03) - just .01 shy of provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships - as the Skyhawk duo were the only two high jumpers at the event to clear 2.0-meters.

Thomas bettered his school-record and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time in the 55-meter high hurdles with his time of 7.66-seconds in the preliminaries. He would later finish third in the final with a time of 7.74. Thomas' previous school record of 7.67 seconds was set last weekend at the Wheaton Invitational.

Thomas was also a part of Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay team that finished ninth with a time of 3:33.34, along with freshman Michael Miela (Foothill Ranch, Calif./Trabuco Hills) and sophomores John Driscoll (Revere, Mass./Revere) and Pak Lul (Portland, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy).

Junior Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn./Newington) placed second out of 31 runners in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:29.49. He was also part of Stonehill's Distance Medley relay team that finished fourth in 10:27.46, along with classmates Patrick Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) and Nathan Morse (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Family) and freshman Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep). Hanlon also finished fourth in the 1000-meters with a time of 2:31.54.

Other results for Stonehill today included:

Sophomore Stephen Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) placed ninth out of 52 runners in the 5000-meter run in 15:15.94.

Freshman Kevin McCann (Monroe, Conn./Masuk), the school-record holder in the pole vault, placed tenth in that event tonight with a height of 3.95-meters (12'11.5').

Driscoll placed 13th in the 400-meter dash in 52.73-seconds.

Lul finished 14th in the 500-meter dash in 1:08.91.

Junior Daniel Newton (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) placed 14th in the shot put with a throw of 13.48-meters (44'2.75").

Junior Daniel Fidler (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) placed 18th out of 59 competitors in the mile run with a time of 4:26.79.

Stonehill is right back in action tomorrow at the Terrier Classic at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center beginning at 9 a.m.
