Easton, Mass. - High school senior Corey Thomas, who recently broke a 28-year old meet record at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Elite event, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Stonehill College it was announced on Friday afternoon.

Thomas jumped 7 feet, ½ inches, a leap that would qualify him the Division II National Championships and is the third best performance in by any high school athlete in the country this season.

The reigning state champion in both the high jump and the hurdles, he helped the Eagles to the Tri-County League Championship this winter. In the league title meet, he won the hurdles, the high jump was second on the 4x200 relay and was named the Tri-County League most outstanding performer.

"I'm just relieved to have signed here," said Thomas. "Everything fell right into place and it definitely took a monkey off my back."
