 Skyhawks Claim Team Title At 2nd Annual Home Event

With individual victories by Matt Meagher (10,000), Dan Kincade (Javelin), Torrey Price (100 meters), Mark White (Discus), Tyler Guilmette (Long Jump), Joe D'Agostino (High Jump) and the 4x100 meter relay, Stonehill took first place at the second annual Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium. In a field littered with Division I competition, the Skyhawks collected 158 points, well ahead of second place Tufts (127) and third-place Bryant (93).

Event No. 1 - Men's 10,000 Meters
Stonehill's Matt Meagher (Mansfield, Mass.) opened up a huge lead midway through and cruised to win in this event. Bridgewater State's Avery Bouchard was second followed by Stonehill freshman Steve Polito (Worcester, Mass.).

Event No. 3 - Men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase
UMass-Lowell junior Steve O'Brien claimed the top spot with a time of 9:58.77. Tufts' Ryan Lena followed at 10:00.36 and in third place was Bridgewater freshman William Taft (10:12.69). Stonehill sophomore Jason Lynch (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was fourth at 10:19.23.

Event No. 4 - Women's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase
Boston College's Mallory Champa set a new meet record with a NCAA Division I provisional qualifying time of 10:50.30 to claim the individual championship. The old record of 11:18.20 was set by Bryant's Nicole Radzik. UMass-Lowell's Sarah Brassard was second (11:22.94) and Tufts' freshman Anya Price finished third at 12:12.32.

Event No. 5 - Men's 5,000 Meter Run
Boston College's David Emerson shaved nearly 20 seconds off the previous event record with a time of 15:13.28 to earn the individual championship. Tufts junior Nick Welch was second at 15:27.72, followed by Stonehill junior Josh Andrews (15:33.39).

Event No. 6 - Women's 5,000 Meter Run
Three sophomores  - Tufts' Stephanie McNamara (17:16.73), Mary Najarian (18:43.54) and Stonehill's Kelly O'Toole (18:47.96) - were in the top three. Stonehill freshman Kristen Mahoney was fifth (19:03.53).

Event No. 7 - Women's 4x100 Meter Relay
Anchored by freshman Rory Cellucci, Boston College's ‘A' quartet took home the 4x100 relay crown after finishing with a time of 48.56. She was joined by juniors Meghan Callahan and Teyahnie Boone and fellow freshman Anna Cioffredi. The Eagles were followed by URI (49.26), UMass-Lowell (49.46) and Wheaton College (Mass.).

Event No. 8 - Men's 4x100 Meter Relay
With freshman Stephan Neville (Foxboro, Mass.) running the anchor leg, Stonehill blazed to a title in the 4x100 meter relay. Seniors Tyler Guillmette (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) along with freshman John Driscoll teamed with Neville for the Skyhawks. They were followed by Boston College (44.30), Tufts (44.30) and Bryant (44.31).

Event No. 9 - Women's 1,500 Meter Run
Boston College swept through this event, claiming the top seven spots led by junior Samantha Gawrych with a time of 4:40.80. Wheaton's Beth Pisarik was the top non-Division I finisher in eighth place with a time of 4:47.94.

Event No. 10 - Men's 1,500 Meter Run
Boston College sophomore Andrew MacIsaac just missed out on an event record with a first-place finish, turning in a 4:00.43 performance to edge out a pair of Stonehill runners in second and third place. Sophomore Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.), the event record holder, was second (4:01.27) and Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn.) rounded out the top three at 4:02.37.

Event No. 11 - Women's 100 Meter Hurdles
Rhode Island had three of the top four finishers led by sophomore Lara-Jane Que who turned in a time of 14.76 to collect first place. Que's time shattered the old record of Lauren Raimondi who finished third at this year's event ((15.37).

Event No. 12 - Men's 110 Meter Hurdles
Tufts junior Jared Engelking took top honors with a time of 15.21, while Assumption sophomore Anthony Dowd was second at 15.74. Bryant sophomore Anthony Monteiro rounded out the top three with a time of 15.91.

Event No. 13 - Women's 400 Meter Dash
A pair of freshmen took home the top two spots, with UMass-Lowell's Ashley Smith (59.68) edging out Stonehill's Christen Carrier (Manchester, N.H.) (1:01.19). Wheaton's Chizoba Ezeigwe, the event record holder in the 100, was third at 1:01.26.

Event No. 14 - Men's 400 Meter Dash
UMass-Lowell senior Andrew Grange blazed his way to a event record with a first place finish of 48.63. Bryant junior Alexander Engel was second at 50.10 and fellow River Hawk, freshman Jeffery Wundt was third at 50.31. Stonehill senior Mark Porcaro was fifth with a time of 51.66.

Event No. 15 - Women's 100 Meter Dash
Boston College freshman Anna Cioffredi was just off of an event record with a time of 12.61 to earn the individual crown. Rhode Island senior Ashley Robinson was second (12.68) followed by fellow Boston College freshman Rory Cellucci (12.74).

Event No. 16 - Men's 100 Meter Dash
Stonehill had two runners in the top four, led by a first-place finish from senior Torrey Price (10.99). Freshman Stephan Neville was fourth at 11.41, while Bryant sophomore Thomas O'Connor was second (11.12) and Tufts senior Phillip Rotella was third (11.21).

Event No. 17 - Women's 800 Meter Run
Samantha Gawrych turned in a new meet record with a time of 2:15.47 to earn the individual title. She was followed by UMass-Lowell's Christina DaLomba (2:16.68) and fellow River Hawk, sophomore Patricia Brice (2:17.29). Stonehill freshman Susan O'Connell (East Greenwich, R.I.) was seventh (2:20.02). 

Event No. 18 - Men's 800 Meter Run
Tufts junior Billy Hale scored a first place finish with a 1:59.32 performance to edge out Boston College senior James LaGreca who was right behind him at 1:59.44. Boston College's Brendan Collins was third at 2:00.86. 

Event No. 19 - Women's 400 Meter Hurdles
URI junior Natatia Nugent blazed her way to a first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.55. She was followed by Boston College's Kara Musso (1:07.69) and Stonehill's Kathryn O'Leary (1:07.69). 

Event No. 20 - Men's 400 Meter Hurdles
Northeastern junior Jon Hall finished in first place with a time of 54.90 ahead of three UMass-Lowell competitors - Matthew Blazon (56.00), Justin Oliver (57.65) and Robert Fernandez (58.55).

Event No. 21 - Women's 200 Meter Dash
Ashley Robinson of Rhode Island won the individual title with a time of 26.25, followed by Boston College's Meghan Callahan (26.28). UMass-Lowell's Prisna Doriscat (26.89) was the top non-Division I finisher in fourth place. Last year's champion, Boston College's Teyahnie Boone finished in fifth (26.90).

Event No. 22 - Men's 200 Meter Dash
Bryant sophomore Thomas O'Connor (22.60) edged out Wheaton junior Merzudin Ibric (22.64) for the individual crown. Last year's champion, Stonehill's Torrey Price, was fifth with a time of 23.06.

Event No. 23 - Women's 4x400 Meter Relay
Two different Boston College foursomes finished in first and second respectively, followed by UMass-Lowell (4:10.90) and Stonehill (4:19.79). The Eagles ‘B' relay was first at 3:59.49, while the ‘A' was second at 4:05.85.

Event No. 24 - Men's 4x400 Meter Relay
Bryant's foursome of Alex Engel, Michael DiBella, Thomas O'Connor and Andrew Fitzgerald claimed first place in the men's 4x400 meter relay. UMass-Lowell was second (3:30.61) and Stonehill (Comis, Blanche, Porcaro, Guilmette) was third (3:33.18).

Event No. 25 - Women's High Jump
Rhode Island junior Shayna Daugherty and fellow Ram TyLynn Graham finished 1-2 for URI. Stonehill's Colleen Carmen was third.

Event No. 26 - Men's High Jump

Event No. 27 - Women's Pole Vault
Rhode Island junior Stephanie Gregory vaulted 10-11.75 to grab the individual crown in the pole vault. Three freshmen followed, led by Boston College's Emily Cornelius, Northeastern's Lauren Bennett and Tufts' Heather Theiss.

Event No. 28 - Men's Pole Vault
Northeastern sophomore Pablo Rodriguez vaulted an event record of 15 feet even, shattering his own mark of 13 feet, 11 and a quarter inches set a season ago. Tufts sophomore Sam Read tied Rodriguez' mark from a season ago, earning second place while Ben Kocarnik, who held the record with Rodriguez, finished in third with a vault of 13 feet, five and a quarter inches.o

Event No. 29 - Women's Long Jump
TyLynn Graham shattered the event record with a long jump of 5.54 meters to claim the individual title. Logan Crane of Tufts was second (5.49 meters) and Boston College's Melissa Hadfield was third (5.38). Stonehill freshman Vlada Shelkova (Newington, Conn.) was sixth at 5.30 meters.

Event No. 30 - Men's Long Jump
Tyler Guilmette broke his own record with a jump of 22 feet, 8.5 inches to claim his second straight individual title at this event. Boston College freshman Matt Adetula was second with a jump of 21 feet, 9.5 inches.

Event No. 31 - Women's Triple Jump
Wheaton freshman Mickey Jusme jumped an event record 39 feet, one quarter of an inch to take first place in the triple jump. Brandeis' Ali Sax finished in second with a jump of 36 feet, ten and a half inches, while Tufts sophomore Kanku Kabongo was third (36 feet, seven and three quarter inches).

Event No. 32 - Men's Triple Jump
Wheaton freshman Marcus Dennis took top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 12.65 meters, finishing ahead of Northeastern freshman Dan Brooks (12.48 meters) and Bridgewater State freshman Chris O'Neil (12.38 meters).

Event No. 33 - Women's Discus
Boston College freshman Kelsey Huckins claimed the top spot with a throw of 40.38 meters, outdistancing URI senior Jessica Lehman (38.73) and Stonehill's Megan Rocha (37.51).

Event No. 35 - Women's Hammer Throw
Three sophomores, headlined by Northeastern's Althea Charles took the top three spots. Charles' throw of167 feet, seven inches was more than 45 feet further than the previous record of 122 feet, four inches set by Bryant's Amber Torrey at last year's event.

Event No. 36 - Men's Hammer Throw

Event No. 37 - Women's Javelin
Northeastern senior Lauren DeTurk fell just short of an event record with a throw of 118 feet, four inches to earn first place honors, while Stonehill freshman Erica Insel (Clinton, N.J.) was second at 114 feet, seven inches.

Event No. 38 - Men's Javelin
Three of the top four performances were by freshman and Stonehill's Dan Kincade (Brookfield, Conn.) took home the title with a throw of 169 feet, seven inches. Northeastern's Eric Milne was second at 156 feet, six inches.

Event No. 39 - Women's Shot Put
UMass-Lowell's Jacqui  Barrett (13.84 meters) edged out Northeastern's Patricia Harrison (13.07). Tufts' Paula Dormon was a distant third with a toss of 12.11 meters.

Event No. 40 - Men's Shot Put
Three sophomores - UMass-Lowell's Cory Murray (16.07 meters), Northeastern's Patrick Jablonski (14.09 meters) and Stonehill's Patrick Fanning (13.31 meters) - finished 1-2-3.

Event No. 41 - Women's 4x800 Meter Relay
Boston College's Bernier, McKeon, Meyer and Sullivan took a comfortable lead and cruised to a win with a time of 9:38.97. Stonehill (Booth, Pinkham, Coriaty and O'Connell) finished in fifth with a time of 10:18.37.

Event No. 42 - Men's 4x800 Meter Relay
Stonehill's ‘A' foursome of Ben Rumery, Brian Benson, Dan Pilz and Kevin Gill claimed the 4x800 meter relay title in a time of 8:16.71. Bryant's ‘A', which featured three freshman and a sophomore, finished in second at 8:18.51.
