Price Starts Track & Field Season on a High Note

Boston, Mass.Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) started Stonehill's season off on a high note at the Husky Track & Field Carnival Saturday hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.  Price, a junior, is one of many Skyhawks athletes who registered an impressive performance for the Purple and White.

Price finished first (6.44) in the preliminary running of the Men's 55 Meter Dash.  In the finals Price finished second to Salem State's Eddie Bynum III (6.38).  Price finished in 6.43 seconds beating his 2006-2007 school-record time at the Carnival of 6.50.  Torrey finished his day claiming sixth place in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.04.

Two Skyhawks finished in the top 25 of the Men's 500 Meter Dash.  Senior Tom Woods (Medfield, Mass.) and freshman Nate Morse (Whitinsville, Mass.) finished with time of 1:07.20 and 1:08.06 respectfully. Meanwhile, senior Andrew Schaalman (North Andover, Mass.) led the way for Stonehill in the Mile Run with 4:35.33 finish.

Two juniors finished with top 10 performances in their individual events.  Matt Meagher (Mansfield, Mass.) matched Price's sixth place finish with one of his own in the 5000 Meter Run.  Meagher finished with in 15.17.67. Junior Tyler Guilemette (East Longmeadow, Mass.) dominated the Men's Long Jump with a 6.71m finish - good for fourth place.

Sophomore Joe D'Agostino (Canton, Mass.) claimed one of Stonehill's highest finishes of the day with a second place result in the High Jump.  D'Agostino jumped 6-04.00 to claim the second spot for the Skyhawks.

Men's Shot Put and Weight Throw was marked by finishes of 30th and 19th by senior Russell Miranda (West Warwick, R.I.).  Miranda threw 10.92m in shot put and 12.42m in the weight throw.  Sophomore John Latta (Tewksbury, Mass.) also did well in the weight throw, claiming 18th with a 12.56m launch.

On the women's side, Ashley Lane (Needham, Mass.), senior Amanda Carnevale (Stony Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Katrina Harkins (Derry, N.H.) provided the highest finishes for the Skyhawks.

Lane, a junior, led Stonehill with an 11th place finish in the 400 Meter Dash (1:02.49).  Not far behind were teammates Megan Breault (Dayville, Conn.) and Danielle Wheeler (Carmel, N.Y.).  Breault finished 21st with 1:04.53.  Wheeler, right behind, claimed the 23rd spot with 1:04.86.

Another senior, Carnevale, took home 13th place in the 500 Meter Dash with a time of 1:22.95.  Freshman Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass.) made a strong showing for her class, as well, finishing 33rd in the 200 Meter Dash.  Miller's time was 27.92.

Santacroce finished 22nd in the Women's 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:33.41.  Harkins, a sophomore, took 19th in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a 9.38 finish.

Sophomore Bridget Conway (Floral Park, N.Y.) and classmate Ana Kern (Attleboro, Mass.) both finished high in their events.  Conway, a high jumper, claimed the 20th spot with a 4-10.00 jump.  Kern, a long jumper, finished 31st with 4.34m.  The women finished 15th overall in the 4x 400 Relay (4:17.04) to end the day.
