School Records Fall, All-New England Honors Roll In For Skyhawks

Durham, N.H. - Several school records fell and even more Stonehill student-athletes earned All-New England status as the Skyhawks finished eighth overall (38 points) at the New England Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire over the weekend.

The University of Rhode Island, which had four individual champions, took home the team title with 122 points, well ahead of second place Connecticut (79).

Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) set two new school marks on his way to All-New England honors in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, finishing third in both events and provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships. In the 100 preliminaries, his time of 10.61, not only set the new school mark but was the fastest time of the day. He ran 11.13 in the final to finish third, while his 21.53 showing in the 200 preliminaries was a new school mark. He finished third in the finals behind Arman Dixon of Sacred heart and Andrew Arons of Williams.

Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.) put a cap on his excellent collegiate career, collecting All-New England honors in the 5000 meter run, finishing eighth with a time of 14:54.22.

All-America David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) also picked up All-New England accolades, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship, blazing to a second place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:21.94.

Joining the All-New England honorees was Tom Woods, who earned his honor with a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (53.74).

Tyler Guilmette (Longmeadow, Mass.) set another school standard with his long jump of 23 feet, which also made him an All-New England recipient.
