Burbank Records Pair Of Second Place Finishes As Men's Indoor Track And Field Resumes Schedule With Third Place Finish At Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass.-- Both Stonehill indoor track and field teams resumed their schedules on Saturday afternoon with competition at the Tufts Invitational, as the Chieftain men placed third overall while the women’s squad placed fourth in the team standings.

On the men’s side, sophomore Dana Burbank (North Andover, Mass.) finished second in both the high jump and 55 meter hurdles, as he set a school record in the latter event with a time of eight seconds flat. Freshman Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) was second in the 1,000 meters with a freshman record of 2:33.38, while seniors Fran Guardabascio (Mansfield, Mass.) and Sotirios Pintzopoulos (North Reading, Mass.) each recorded third place finishes in the 1,000 and 55 meters, respectively. The 4 X 200 relay team of Pintzopoulos, junior Paul Viggiano (Trumbull, Conn.), sophomore Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Thomas Woods (Medfield, Mass.) won the event with a time of 1:35.14 for Stonehill, as host Tufts took top team honors on the day.

Senior Dianna Chivakos (South Hamilton, Mass.) led the way on the women’s side in taking first place honors in both the mile and 3,000 meters, posting a time of 5:09.27 in the mile, while freshman Sharon Golankiewicz (New Milford, Conn.) finished second in the high jump with a freshman record of 1.57 meters. Senior Tracy Tabacco (Methuen, Mass.) also placed second for the Chieftains in the 55 meter high hurdles, as host Tufts also took top team accolades on the women’s side of the competition.

Both Stonehill squads return to action next weekend at the Boston University Terrier Classic, with Friday’s competition set to begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by Saturday’s action at 10:00 a.m.
