NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (April 24, 2017) – The Stonehill College softball team dropped its third game of a three-game series against Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College, 6-2, Monday afternoon on Warrior Field.

For the Skyhawks, five batters tallied six hits, as Carly Rennie (Chelmsford, Massachusetts/Chelmsford) was the only Skyhawk to tally two hits. Rennie and Sophie Perez (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham) registered the only two runs for Stonehill.
Merrimack started putting pressure on Stonehill in the bottom of the second, as the Warriors tallied two hits and left two runners on base. Stonehill did the same thing in the top of the third, as the Skyhawks recorded two hits and left two runners on.
The Warriors rallied with one out in the bottom of the third, driving in Mariah Tenney from third and Haley Currie from second, as Caitlin McBride drove her in with a single to center field. Alyssa Williamson grounded out to third base and McBride advanced to third after a passed ball, and scored with a throwing error by the first baseman, putting Merrimack up 3-0.
In the top of the fifth, Perez singled to left field and Rennie drove the ball through the left side, getting runners on first and second. The Warriors got two quick outs, but then Taylor Lester (East Northport, New York/St. Anthony's) reached on an error by the pitcher and ended up on third base, cutting the deficit to one, 3-2, with Rennie and Perez scoring.
Merrimack extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth with two outs as Tamarra Crowe singled to left field and advanced on a fielding error, bringing Breanna Dupuis home from second. Emily Kurkul then followed with a base hit out to left field, easily scoring Crowe, giving the Warriors a 5-2 lead.
Tiffany Mangiameli led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk, and later came around the bases with two outs as Currie reached on an error, giving the Warriors one more insurance run, 6-2.
Softball (11-25, 9-10 NE10) is scheduled to visit Bentley University for a single game against the Falcons on Tuesday, April 25.
