Carbone went a perfect 7-for-7 on the day

Game 1: Saint Michael's 3 – Stonehill 2

For the Skyhawks, Erin Brayden (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) went 1-for-3 with a two-run double, while Michelle Carbone (Deer Park, New York/St. Anthony's) batted 3-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Stonehill got on board early in the bottom of the first, with one out, Lianna Jordan (Staten Island, New York/St. Joseph By the Sea) reached first on a dropped fly ball and Carbone advanced her to second with a single through the left side. Brayden followed the duo launching a long fly ball that hit the fence for a stand-up double, scoring Carbone and Jordan for a 2-0 advantage.

Saint Michael's rallied in top of the third and took a one-run lead off of three hits and two errors. Julia Sevigny reached first on a throwing error and advanced to second with no outs, as Chandler Wilder moved her to third with a sacrifice bunt. Sevigny crossed home for the Purple Knight's first run of the game, off of Fallon Tierney's single to right field, putting Wilder on second with one out. Torie Rathwell hit a ball to the pitcher, who tipped the ball with her glove but was unable to make a play, but Wilder scored from third after advancing on bunt. Danielle Barbato followed with a fielder's choice to left field, as Carbone threw out Rathwell before she got to second, but Tierney scored for a one-run lead, 3-2.

Stonehill put pressure on the Purple Knights in the bottom of the sixth as Carbone led off with a single to left field and stole second with one out. Sophie Perez (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) punched the ball out to left field for a single, advancing Carbone to third. Perez stole third to get both runners in scoring position, but Torie Rathwell retired the side with a fly ball, leaving two Skyhawks on base.

Jennifer Mayette (Scotia, New York/Scotia-Glenville) retired the Purple Knights in the top of the seventh with three-straight outs, and Danielle Brown closed out the game with a strikeout, a fly out and a pop up, earning her first save of the year.

Game 2: Saint Michael's 2 – Stonehill 0

In the second contest of the day, the Skyhawk seniors all tallied hits, as Carbone went 4-for-4 with four singles and Taylor Lester (East Northport, New York/St. Anthony's) and Cassandra Squeri (New Providence, New Jersey/New Providence) recorded one and two hits, respectively.

Stonehill got on base in the bottom of the first inning, as Squeri shut down the Purple Knights in the top of the frame. With two outs, Carbone sent a single down the left field line and Squeri singled to left field. Brayden walked to get the bases loaded, but Brown retired the side with a fly out by Perez.

Saint Michael's got their first runner on base in the top of the second as Barbato reached first on a fielding error by the third baseman, but Squeri held the Purple Knights to no hits in the frame. The Skyhawks left another two runners on in the bottom of the second, as Julia Hartman (Salisbury, Massachusetts/Triton Regional) reached first on an error by the catcher and Lester singled to right field. Stonehill left another two runners on in the bottom of the third as Carbone tallied the only hit of the inning.

In the top of the fourth, Rathwell singled to center field with one out, and Barbato launched her fifth homerun of the season to left center, scoring Rathwell for a 2-0 lead. 

Stonehill left a runner or more on base in each of the final innings, except for the bottom of the sixth, as Brown retired the side with a fly out, a strikeout and a ground out. Saint Michael's totaled leaving six runners on base in the remaining innings, taking the win even though Stonehill held a 7-6 advantage hitting.

Stonehill (11-24, 9-9 NE10) travels to North Andover, Massachusetts for a single game on Warrior Softball Diamond against Merrimack College tomorrow, Monday, April 23 with a first pitch slated for 4:00 p.m.
