Sumski Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Senior Alison Sumski leads Skyhawks with 7-for-13 effort, two homeruns and eight RBI

EASTON, Mass. (April 25, 2016) – Stonehill College senior Alison Sumski (Amherst, New Hampshire/Souhegan) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for softball, it was announced today by the league office.

Sumski led Stonehill at the plate last week with a .538 batting average (7-for-13), to go with three doubles, two home runs and eight RBI. She also posted an on-base percentage of .571 to go with a 1.231 slugging percentage in a perfect 4-0 week for Stonehill.

Sumski and the Skyhawks started their week off hot, as the senior went 1-for-2 with an RBI in a 10-2 win over Merrimack College. Sumski then produced her best game of the week, going 3-for-4 with two homeruns, four RBI and two runs scored in a 10-0 drubbing of Franklin Pierce University.

She closed out the week finishing with three hits (all doubles) and three RBI in completing the weekend series sweep of Franklin Pierce and securing a first round bye into the NE-10 tournament.

Overall this season, Sumski ranks first on the team with nine homeruns and 38 RBI and shares the team lead with ten doubles. Her nine homeruns rank second in the NE-10, while her 38 RBI rank third.

Stonehill (23-16, 19-8 NE-10) will find out its NE-10 Tournament opponent following Tuesday's first round action between the University of New Haven and Adelphi University. The Skyhawks will square off with winner.
