Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks dropped both ends of a double header against Pace on Sunday at Gartland Field.  Stonehill lost the first game 14-4 and fell 3-2 in eight innings in the second, as the Setters scored runs in the seventh and eighth to clinch the victory.

After Pace tied the game at one in the top of the sixth, the Skyhawks came back in the bottom of the inning as Kate Brides (West Bridgewater, Mass.) got the action started with a single.

Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) followed and singled, and Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. A single by Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass.) scored Brides before the Setters were able to get the next two batters out, giving Stonehill the 2-1 lead.

However, pitch hitter Larissa Porcelli led off seventh inning with a double to left center. After being bunted over the third, Porcelli scored on a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game at two apiece

In the last of the seventh, Kristen Clark (Brockton, Mass.) led off with a double of her own and reached third on a fielding error on a bunt by Chelsea Stryker (Baldwin, N.Y.).  Stryker stole second, but the Skyhawks went down 1-2-3 to end the threat and send the game into extra innings.

For the second consecutive inning the Setters led off with a double, as Amanda Dague reached second and came around to score on a single to centerfield for the go ahead run.

In the bottom of the frame, Marrero lined a one out double to the gap, however, consecutive fly outs ended the game as the Skyhawks dropped their fourth straight contest.

In the first game of the afternoon, Pace got up early, scoring four unearned runs in the top of the first with help of two Stonehill errors.

In the bottom of the frame, Brides reached on a two out single and Young was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for Sheehy. Sheehy put a pitch over the centerfield fence for her first homer of the season and cut the Setter lead to one.

Four of the first five runners reached on singles for Pace in the second, as they added three runs to stretch their lead to 7-3.  In the top of the fifth the Setters add four more runs on six hits to push their lead to 11-3.

The Skyhawks added a run in the fifth as Clark scored on a sacrifice fly by Brides to make it 11-4, however three more Pace runs in the top of the seventh provided the 14-4 final score.

Marrero led all Stonehill batters going 4-7 with an RBI while Brides went 3-7 with two RBI and two runs scored. Clark had three hits as well, and added two runs and an RBI on the day.  Samantha Krantz (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) pitched well on the mound for the Skyhawks, going eight innings and allowing three runs while striking out three in the second game of the afternoon.

The Skyhawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to play a doubleheader with New Haven. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
