Ippolito's Homer Not Enough In 6-3 Loss

Kissimmee, Fla. - Jamie Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) provided all the power but in the end it wasn't enough as the Skyhawks dropped their third straight game, this one a 6-3 decision to Wilmington at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Quakers broke open a scoreless game with a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.

Stonehill then capitalized a Wilmington miscue to tighten the gap. A walk to freshman Ashley Langlois (Ridgefield, Conn.) to open the inning was followed by an error by Quaker first baseman Nicole Gebhart allowing the Skyhawks to keep two runners on base. After an out was recorded, Ippolito blasted her second homer of the season, closing the game to 4-3.

Wilmington responded with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to widen its lead. A walk, sacrifice, base hit and a stolen base put two runners in scoring position for Lindsay Watson, who singled to give the Quakers a 6-3.

Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) took the loss for Stonehill after going 5.1 innings and giving up seven hits and five earned runs.

Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) had two hits for the Skyhawks, who mustered only four on the day.

Watson led Wilmington with two hits and two RBI, while Kristin Tomlinson recorded a 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
