Skyhawks Split With St. Anselm

Manchester, N.H. - Stonehill split a pair of games at St. Anselm on Thursday, picking up an 11-2 win and dropping a 6-1 decision to the Hawks at South Athletic Field.

In the first inning of game one, Stonehill jumped out to a 6-0 margin behind a four-hit attack and two-RBI hits by Gina Vivona (Seaford, N.Y.) and Meghan Sheehy (East Islip, N.Y.).

Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) led the Skyhawk offensive attack with three hits as the team banged out 13 in the game. Both Sheehy and Vivona had three RBI and Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.) had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) picked up the win for Stonehill to improve to 4-1 on the season

In game two, the Hawks took a 2-1 lead and the game stayed that way until St. Anselm scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The 2-3-4 hitters for the Hawks went a combined 6-for-11 at the plate, scoring four runs and three RBI.

Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) took the loss for Stonehill, giving up eight hits and six earned runs with one strikeout and three walks.

The Skyhawks are now 18-12 overall and 10-6 in the Northeast-10, one game ahead of St. Anselm for fifth place.
