Game Two Boxscore

New Haven, Conn. - For the third straight series, Stonehill ran into a pitcher on her ‘A' game. This time the hurler was Southern Connecticut senior Jessica Dempsey, who pitched a complete game, one-hitter, striking out 10 in a 4-0 gem for the Owls in the series opener. Luckily for Stonehill, Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) had an answer in game two. She went the distance, giving up just two hits as the Skyhawks won the nightcap, 6-2 to improve to 20-16 overall and 12-10 in the Northeast-10.

In game one, Stonehill's lone hit came in the fifth inning by Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.), breaking up Dempsey's string of 12 straight batters retired to open the game. The hit didn't rattle her however as she retired the final nine batters in succession to secure the win. Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) took the loss, falling to 7-6 after giving up six hits and two earned runs in 4.2 innings.

Monica Savarese was the catalyst of the Owl offense in game one, collecting two hits and scoring three of their four runs.

Game two was a different story for the Skyhawks both in the circle and at the plate. Jaime Ippolito (Chelsea, Mass.) delivered the game's biggest blow - a three run homer in the top of the third - in supports of Mottau's efforts.

Stephanie Folan (Glen Cover, N.Y) went 3-for-4 with two doubles from her leadoff spot, while Ippolito and Kate Brides (Bridgewater, Mass.) each had a pair of hits.

The Skyhawks return to action on Thursday for a doubleheader with Northeast-10 for Bentley. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
