Easton, Mass. - Sophomore hurler Kait Mendall (Middleboro, Mass.) tossed a complete game, two-hitter, shutting down Franklin Pierce as Stonehill completed a two-game sweep of the visiting Ravens Thursday afternoon on Fr. Gartland Field.

Mendall's excellence on the mound followed Jaime Ippolito's (Chelsea, Mass.) perfect game in the front end of the doubleheader.

After giving up a single to the game's second batter and single to leadoff the third, she retired the final 15 Raven batters in succession to notch her first win of the season.

She got all the offense she would need in the fourth when Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.) singled to center and advanced to second on a fielding error by Franklin Pierce centerfielder, Stephanie Howard. Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) then doubled to left center, giving Stonehill a 1-0 lead.

Young was in the middle of the action as the Skyhawks' scored their second run as well. She doubled to left center with one out in the sixth and scored when Ippolito blasted a deep fly to right that was mishandled by Franklin Pierce's Kelsey Dumont.

Mendall, who had one strikeout which came in the fifth, didn't allow a walk either. In the two games against the Ravens, Skyhawk starting pitchers went 14 innings, allowing two hits and no walks and retired 40 of 42 batters.

Young was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles for Stonehill, while Stephanie Folan (Glen Cove, N.Y.) also added a double in the game two win.

At 13-7 overall and 5-1 in Northeast-10 action, Stonehill will return to the field on Sunday when it hosts Assumption beginning at 1 p.m.
