Easton, Mass. - Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) pitched a complete game two-hitter in game two after getting a two-inning save in game one, helping Stonehill sweep a pair of games, 4-2 and 4-1, from visiting American International on Tuesday afternoon on Fr. Gartland Field.

In game one, Danielle Mason (Salisbury, Mass.) went five innings, yielding seven hits and two earned runs while striking out four. Mottau then came in and got the final six outs for her first save of the season and only the second of her career.

Stonehill got on the board first in the second with an RBI single from Caitlin Flanagan (Cornwall, N.Y.). After the Yellow Jackets evened everything up at 1-1, the Skyhawks scored two more in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly from Kate Brides (Bridgewater, Mass.) and an RBI single from Lauren Rappoli (Wilmington, Mass.). After American International got an RBI base hit in the fourth, the game stayed that way until Rappoli scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Courtney Young (Danvers, Mass.) was the lone Skyhawk to record multiple hits in game one as she went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Deanna Zanetti was 3-for-3 for the Yellow Jackets.

Game two was more Mottau, as she held the visitors to just two hits to pick up her sixth win of the season, a total that matched her number of strikeouts.

At one point, the junior hurler retired 15 straight batters before a leadoff single opened the seventh inning. With a runner on first, AIC's Tara Demontier lined out to Stephanie Folan (Glen Cove, N.Y.) at third, but Folan's throw back to first in a double play attempt sailed high allowing the runner to come all the way around to score.

Stonehill took the lead in the first on a single by Rappoli and a double from Young. Three more runs crossed the plate in the fourth with RBI hits coming from Folan and Brides.

Both Brides and Rappoli each had two hits in game two for Stonehill, which improves to 17-11 overall.

The Skyhawks return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to St. Anselm for a doubleheader with the Hawks.
