COLCHESTER, Vt.-- Senior Meggan Roberge (Sheldon Springs, Vt.) tossed a complete-game two-hitter and struck out 12 in the opener and recorded her second save in the nightcap as Saint Michael's swept a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader from Stonehill by scores of 3-0 in the first outing and 2-0 in the second contest in games played at Doc Jacobs Field.

Roberge gave the host Purple Knights (23-12, 13-10 Northeast-10) the only run they would need in the opener by opening the third inning with a single and scoring on an error, and Saint Michael's tacked on a pair of insurance tallies in the sixth on sophomore Ashley Harkins' (Colchester, Vt.) two-run homer, her seventh of the spring. Roberge took care of the rest on the mound to improve to 16-4 on the season for the hosts, as freshman Kait Mendall (Middleboro, Mass.) dropped another tough decision in the pitcher's duel, fanning three inside the circle for the visiting Skyhawks (12-22, 11-13 Northeast-10).

The two teams were scoreless until the bottom of the fifth of the nightcap when senior Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt.) forced in a run after being hit by a pitch and Roberge scored on a throwing error. Sophomore Megan O'Connor (Georgetown, Mass.), who combined with Roberge for all five of the Purple Knight hits in the second contest, pitched 5 2/3 scoreless frames and struck out five to improve to 6-5 on the mound for Saint Michael's, as Roberge got the final four outs with three strikeouts for the save. Sophomore Katie Mottau (Woonsocket, R.I.) took the tough luck setback on the mound in the nightcap for Stonehill, allowing one earned run and fanning five to fall to 6-7 while adding a double at the plate for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill hosts Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 twinbill on Sunday afternoon at Gartland Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Saint Michael's hosts Bryant in a Northeast-10 doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Doc Jacobs Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
