Northeast 10 Cross Country Report: Week 2 

EASTON, Mass. (September 11, 2018) – The Stonehill College's men's cross country team, ranked No. 1 in the East Region and No. 15 in the National U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Poll, saw senior Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) and freshman Nickolas McNamee (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) earn Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honors, as announce by the league today.

Taxter opened up the season with a top-20 result as he clocked in a time of 25:52.4 in the varsity division at the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational, hosted by Bryant University. The senior crossed the finish line as the first Division II competitor and placed 16th among 93 competitors in the eight-kilometer race. The Readville, Massachusetts native finished the course roughly a minute and six seconds under the leader, Sean Burke, from Boston College, as he assisted the Skyhawks to a fourth-place team finish among 11 institutions.

McNamee competed in his first-collegiate race, as he clocked in a time of 26:43.5 in Smithfield, Rhode Island on Saturday, crossing the finish line as the sixth Skyhawk tallying points for the team. McNamee was finished 41st out of the 93 competitors in the varsity race.  

Stonehill travels to Kutztown, Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Division II Challenge, hosted by Kutztown University on Saturday, September 15, where the men will compete at 10:00 a.m. and the women will kick off at 11:00 a.m.
