Nolan Earns NE-10 Rookie Of The Week Distinction

Freshman from Chelmsford, Mass. finishes fifth among 52 freshmen at DII Challenge

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2013) – Stonehill College freshman Daniel Nolan (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Men's Rookie of the Week, the conference office announce earlier today.

Nolan finished 45th overall at the DII Challenge in Kutztown, Pa., on Saturday, with a time of 27:14.1. He was the fifth of 52 freshmen to complete the eight kilometer course. At last weekend's Shacklette Invitational, Nolan ran to a ninth-place finish in 28:00.8 in his first collegiate meet.

Nolan is a 2013 graduate of Chelmsford High School in Chelmsford, Mass., where he served as captain of the cross country and track teams as a senior. During his junior and senior years, Nolan earned Merrimack Valley Conference All-Star honors in both cross country and track, and as a senior Chelmsford won the cross country state championship. Nolan was also a national qualifier in indoor track and recipient of the Marine Corps Scholar Athlete Award his senior year.

Stonehill, receiving votes in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II national poll and ranked second in the East Regional Poll, is off this weekend but will compete in the 45th Annual Codfish Bowl on September 28th at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
