Stonehill Runs To Third Place Finish At Codfish Bowl

DORCHESTER, Mass. (September 24, 2011) – The Stonehill College men's cross country team, ranked 23th in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Rankings, finished third overall at the 44th Annual Codfish Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Bates College captured first place with 49 points while Boston University finished second overall (77 points) and Stonehill ranked third (86 points).

Freshman Daniel Gordon (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) led the Skyhawks with a ninth place finish covering the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes and 23 seconds, a personal best so far this season.

Stonehill placed two more runners in the top-20 as junior Corey Donahoe (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) ran to a 14th place finish (26:36) and teammate Zachary Bagan (Syracuse, N.Y./East Longmeadow) crossed the finish line at 26:46 for a 19th place showing.

Freshmen Bryan Wilcox (Plantsville, Conn/Southington) and Dan Zawalich (Paxton, Mass./St. John's) rounded out the Skyhawks top-five as Wilcox ran a time of 26:51 (23rd overall) and Zawalich posted a time of 26:57 (26th overall).

The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday, October 8 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. at 1:15 p.m.
