Placed 28th overall at NCAA Division II East Regional meet in 31:11.9 on the 10-kilometer course. Placed 124th overall at NCAA Championship covering the 10-kilometer course in 34:17.4.

High School: 2009 graduate of Haverhill High School. Earned letters in track and cross country for coach Michael Maguire and captained the team as a senior. Earned All-Scholastic honors in 2007 and All-Conference honors in 2007 and 2008.

Personal: Born April 21, 1991, Boston, Mass. Son of Jennifer and Brian Penney of Haverhill, Mass. Has a sister, Elyssa (16), and a brother, Evan (13). Supports the New England Patriots and lists favorite athlete as Bernard Lagat.
