Freshmen Sweep Weekly Conference Awards

Easton, Mass. - Stonehill freshmen Jill Alves (Whitman, Mass.) and Steven Polito (Worcester, Mass.) have both been named Northeast-10 Freshmen of the Week following their performances at the Tufts Invite last weekend it was announced by the Conference office on Monday afternoon.

Alves continued the strong start to her collegiate career, finishing fourth with a time of 20:00.45 over the 5K layout, helping Stonehill to a third place team finish at the event. The women's team

Polito, meanwhile, completed the Tufts course in 27:26.24, good for a sixth place finish as the Skyhawks came in second in the team standings.

Joining the freshmen in leading the Skyhawks to two top three finishes and spots on the weekly honor roll were senior Kristina Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.) and sophomore Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.).

Coriaty was sixth in the women's race, wrapping up the event in 20:13.42, while Gill finished the 8K men's course in 27:25.80.

The women, ranked No. 1 and the men ranked No. 2 in the most recent USTFCCCA East Regional Poll return to action on Saturday when they travel to the Brother Doyle's Meet of Champions hosted by Iona College at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
