Metzger Records 11th Place Individual Finish As 14th-Ranked Men's Cross Country Tunes Up For Northeast-10's With Fourth Place Finish At Williams Plansky Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.-- Both Stonehill cross country teams tuned up for their respective Northeast-10 Conference championship races next weekend with a pair of top five finishes at the Williams Plansky Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Mt. Greylock High School.

Junior All-America David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) led the way with an 11th place individual finish for the 14th-ranked Skyhawk men, as he covered the 6K layout in a time of 19:30. Junior Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.), senior Tim Catoggio (Bradford, Mass.) and juniors Khalid Abdi (Brockton, Mass.) and Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) all finished in a pack from 20th through 23rd place, respectively, for Stonehill with times of 19:43, 19:44 and 19:46. Stonehill finished fourth in the final team standings, as Williams took top honors in the event with 19 points, followed by East Stroudsburg and M.I.T.

Seniors Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) and Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) led the way on the women's side for 22nd-ranked Stonehill, as they each covered the 4K layout in a time of 15:44 to finish 16th and 17th, respectively. Junior Meghan Barrett (Norfolk, Mass.) was next with a 20th place finish, as she covered the course in a time of 15:50 for the Skyhawks, who placed fifth in the team competition. Williams also won the women's event, while Tufts and M.I.T. followed in the team standings.

Both Stonehill squads will head to Smithfield, R.I. next Sunday, October 22nd for the 2006 Northeast-10 Championships hosted by Bryant beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Skyhawk men are seeking their third straight team crown, while the Stonehill women are looking for their sixth team title in seven seasons.
