Conrod and Ravichandrakumar earn honors for first time

2018-19 ITA Academic Teams

EASTON, Mass. (July 31, 2019) – Two members of the Stonehill College men's tennis team have been named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, the organization has announced.

Stonehill rising senior Manu Ravichandrakumar and rising junior Joey Conrod have both earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for having a grade point average of 3.50 or better for the 2018-19 academic year. It marks the first time each have earned the honors and the pair are among six Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team.

Ravichandrakumar, a computer science major who recorded a 3.72 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year, has earned a spot on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all six semesters, receiving Academic Distinction status for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 this spring. He received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for the first time this spring, for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team.

Ravichandrakumar, an NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, has posted a combined 38-43 record in singles and doubles play over his career, including a 17-21 singles mark, with a 21-22 doubles record. He appeared in six matches this spring, posting a combined 3-3 doubles and singles record, including a 3-2 singles mark.

Conrod, a health science major who recorded a 3.85 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year, has earned NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status every semester, receiving Academic Distinction recognition for having a semester GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 each of the last two semesters. He has posted a combined singles and doubles record of 15-11 over his first two seasons, with a 15-10 doubles mark, including 3-1 in the NE10. Conrad competed in ten matches this past season, posting a 6-4 doubles record with four different playing partners, including 5-1 with freshman Luke Mendoza.

Stonehill finished its 2018-19 season with a 12-10 record overall, including 4-5 in the NE10 to earn a spot in the NE10 Tournament for a Conference record matching 19th time.
