Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight at Saint Michael’s, 7-0

Newman leads four double-winners for Skyhawks at No. 1 singles & doubles

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 13, 2019) – Stonehill College picked up its third-straight win with a 7-0 decision at Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action at Saint Michael's Tennis Courts today.

Sophomores Trent Newman and Russell White, along with junior Samuel Miller and freshman Juan Camilo Riano Rojas were all double-winners to lead Stonehill to the victory. Newman and Miller teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles that clinched the doubles point for the Skyhawks and then Newman followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Saint Michael's senior Dan Foley. Miller also won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over senior Max Allen.

Freshman Vincent Huynh provided the match clinching point for Stonehill with his 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles over junior Matt Mosher. Junior Aaron Diamond also picked up a singles win for the Skyhawks at No. 6.

White and sophomore Aleksander Lazowski posted Stonehill's first doubles win with their 6-1 win at No. 2. White added a 6-1 ,6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles over sophomore Colby Antonacci, while Riano Rojas recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles against freshman Ivan Llona. Riano Rojas and freshman Luke Mendoza completed the Skyhawks doubles sweep with their 6-3 win at No. 3.

Stonehill (12-6, 4-3 NE10) returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts regionally-ranked Le Moyne College at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m. Saint Michael's (6-13, 1-6 NE10) visits Bentley University on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
