Weitz battles back in third set at No. 2 singles to clinch for Falcons 

EASTON, Mass. (April 5, 2019) – Bentley University took four of six singles matches to claim a 4-3 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action on Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomore Daniel Weitz clinched the win for Bentley with his three-set win over Stonehill junior Samuel Miller at No. 2 singles. Weitz won the opening set 6-3 as the Falcons led in all six singles matches during the first set of play at some point, before Miller took the second set 6-2. Miller was up 4-3 in the third set, before Weitz reeled off the next three games to take the match and provide Bentley with the match-clinching fourth point.

Stonehill earned the doubles point in the match by winning two of the three matches as sophomores Russell White and Aleksander Lazowski clinched the point with their 6-3 decision at No. 2.

Sophomore Trent Newman was a double-winner for Stonehill, teaming up with Miller for a 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Newman followed that up with a 7-6 (10-8), 5-7, 10-3 triumph at No. 1 singles against Bentley senior Dylan Granat.

Senior Michael Fuca, sophomore Connor Aulson and freshman Alexander Novins helped Bentley claim the comeback win with their wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Fuca gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead with his 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles against White, before the Skyhawks got back into the match again.

Freshman Juan Camilo Riano Rojas pulled Stonehill back within a point, with the Skyhawks leading at No. 1 and 2 singles, with his 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 triumph at No. 5 singles against junior Kendall Au.

Stonehill (9-5, 1-2 NE10) is right back on the courts tomorrow, when it visits regionally-ranked Merrimack College for a makeup of Wednesday's postponed match at North Andover High School at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return to Watt Courts on Thursday, April 11, to host Saint Anselm College at 3:30 p.m. Bentley (10-4, 3-0 NE10) hosts Le Moyne College tomorrow at 2 p.m.
