Knox leads Tritons double-winners at No. 1 singles and doubles

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 3, 2019) – Stonehill College opened its spring break trip with a 7-0 setback to Eckerd College in non-conference men's tennis action on Fred Bullard Courts this afternoon.

Senior Alasdair Knox and junior Will Stone  led six double-winners for Eckerd. Knox and freshman Prakrut Patel led a sweep of the doubles matches to clinch the doubles point heading into singles play with their 6-3 win at No. 1. Knox followed that up with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 1 singles over Stonehill junior Samuel Miller.

Stone and junior Matt Spasic teamed up for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles for Eckerd. Stonehill sophomore Russell White won the first set of his match against Stone, 7-5, but Stone rallied to win the second and third sets, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the win at No. 2 singles.

Spasic and Patel also earned singles wins for Eckerd at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

Stonehill (4-2, 0-0 NE10) is right back on the courts tomorrow, when it faces Oneonta State at Oak Street Park, in Kissimmee, Florida, at 8 a.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, March 16, to host Roger Williams College at 1 p.m. Eckerd (1-2, 0-1 SSC) hosts Walsh University on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
