EASTON, Mass. (February 24, 2019) – Stonehill College opened its spring home schedule with a 7-0 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference men's tennis action inside the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex this afternoon.

Sophomore Trent Newman led four double-winners on the afternoon for Stonehill with victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. He teamed up with junior Samuel Miller for a 6-2 doubles win as the Skyhawks swept the three doubles matches to carry a 1-0 lead into singles play. Newman followed that up with a 6-2, 7-5 singles triumph over Colby-Sawyer senior Alex Wright. Miller was also a double-winner for the Skyhawks, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles against junior Mike White.

Freshmen Vincent Huynh and Juan Camilo Riano Rojas rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill, teaming up for a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Huynh followed that up with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles against junior Cam Lynch, while Riano Rojas fought past junior Matt Burke at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.

Sophomores Joey Conrod and Aleksander Lazowski combined for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles to round out the doubles sweep for Stonehill. Juniors Aaron Diamond and Manu Ravichandrakumar also earned singles wins for the Skyhawks this afternoon.

Stonehill (4-1, 0-0 NE10) returns to action next Sunday, March 3, when it visits Eckerd College to open its spring break trip at noon. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, March 16, to host Roger Williams College at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer (1-1, 0-0 GNAC) visits Castleton University next Sunday at 1 p.m.
