Men's Tennis Has Four Earn NE10 Postseason Honors

EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2018) – Four members of the Stonehill College men's tennis program have earned postseason recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference, as selected by the league's ten head coaches.

Stonehill seniors Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) and Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) combined to earn All-Northeast-10 third team honors at No. 3 doubles. Freshmen Trent Newman (Old Greenwich, Connecticut/South Burlington) and Russell White (Toronto, Ontario/Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.)) have also earned postseason recognition with a spot on the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

Buckley and Lisichenok both earn All-NE10 honors for the second time in their careers with their third team honors as a doubles pairing. Lisichenok and classmate Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) teamed up to earn second team honors at No. 1 doubles as freshmen in 2014-15, while Buckley and former teammate Jared Drzal, '15 combined to earn second team honors at No. 3 doubles the same year, which also marks the last time Stonehill had All-NE10 performers for men's tennis. Buckley and Lisichenok teamed up to post a 6-2 record for the Skyhawks this season, winning all five of their matches during the NE10 regular season, with a 5-2 mark at No. 3 doubles. Buckley finished the year with a 12-9 doubles record overall, including 8-4 at No. 3, while Lisichenok posted a 9-6 doubles mark overall, including 6-2 in the NE10.

Buckley finished his career with a combined record of 73-69 in singles and doubles play, including 33-29 in the NE10, with a 50-39 doubles mark. In addition to his two All-NE10 doubles honors, he has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester and earned the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award.

Lisichenok finished his career with a combined record of 79-67 over his career, including 37-33 in NE10 matches, posting a 48-33 doubles mark. He is a two-time NE10 Academic All-Conference selection, being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I At Large first team as a sophomore. He has also been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester, has earned the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award and received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team three straight years.

Newman earns NE10 All-Rookie Team status after posting a combined 24-15 record in singles and doubles play in his first collegiate season, including 8-6 in the NE10, competing at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. He and Bellio teamed up to post an 11-4 record at No. 1 doubles for Stonehill, including 4-3 in the NE10, with two wins over regionally-ranked opponents. Newman and White teamed up to win the A-Doubles flight at the Stonehill Doubles Invitational back in the fall and he earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors twice and co-Player of the Week accolades once.

White earns NE10 All-Rookie Team honors after posting a combined 21-15 in singles and doubles play during his first collegiate season, including 6-6 in the NE10. He posted a 10-6 singles record, including 4-2 in the NE10, this season, primarily at No. 3, where he finished 8-3. White earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors three times during the season and co-Player of the Week once. He and Newman teamed up to win the A-Doubles flight at the Stonehill Doubles Invitational in the fall.

Stonehill finished its 2017-18 season with a 10-9 record overall, including 4-5 in the NE10 to earn a spot in the NE10 Tournament for a Conference record matching 18th time after a one year hiatus.
