EASTON, Mass. (April 5, 2016) – Stonehill College sophomore Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's men's tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Bellio, who has now earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors six times over his two year career, led Stonehill to a pair of Conference wins last week by posting a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play. He dropped just one game in two matches at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks last week in wins over Ricardo Martinez of American International College (6-1, 6-0) in Tuesday's 8-1 win, before sweeping Ben Lambert of Saint Michael's College (6-0, 6-0) in Saturday's 8-1 victory. Bellio and sophomore Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) teamed up to win both matches at No. 1 doubles for the Skyhawks as well, edging AIC's top doubles pairing 8-6 on Tuesday, before notching an 8-2 win against Saint Michael's.

Bellio, who also collected NE-10 Player of the Week accolades this season on September 14 and March 21, is a combined 20-11 in singles and doubles play during his sophomore year. He has a combined 14-4 doubles mark with two different playing partners, including a 3-0 record with Lisichenok – all in NE-10 play. Bellio and sophomore Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) combined for an 11-4 doubles mark this season, including 7-1 in tournament play, winning the top flight of the season-opening Stonehill Doubles Invitational in September and then reached the B-Doubles final at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional in Philadelphia later in the month. Bellio is 6-7 in singles play this year, competing as the Skyhawks top man on the ladder, splitting his four NE-10 matches to date.

Bellio, who along with Lisichenok earned second team All-Northeast-10 honors at No. 1 doubles as freshmen, also earned a spot on the NE-10's All-Rookie Team last spring. He has posted a combined overall record of 48-24 (.667) in singles and doubles play over his first two seasons at Stonehill, including a 17-14 (.548) singles mark (7-5 NE-10). Bellio is 31-10 in doubles play over his career, including 11-2 in NE-10 matches, teaming up with Lisichenok for a 17-6 record over two seasons, including 10-2 in the NE-10. Bellio has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls all three semesters to date.

Stonehill (7-4, 4-0 NE-10) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Merrimack College, ranked fifth in the most recent ITA East Regional rankings, for a key Northeast-10 clash at 3:30 p.m.
