EASTON, Mass. (September 18, 2015) – Stonehill College sophomores Tom Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) and Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) have been selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Co-Players of the Week for men's tennis by the league office this week.

Bellio, who earns Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career after three weekly awards his freshman season, and Buckley, a first-time Player of the Week honoree, combined to win the A-Doubles bracket at Saturday's Stonehill Doubles Invitational. The combo won all three matches at the event as the Skyhawks posted a second place team finish. Bellio and Buckley clipped Jonathan Kraiger and Ben Sachs of Connecticut College in a tiebreaker 9-8 (9-7). Bellio/Buckley also defeated the Holy Cross team of Henry Harrs and Michael Varda 8-6 and Shaw Campbell and David Streelman from Eastern Nazarene 9-7.

Buckley is a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play early on in his sophomore season. In addition to his three doubles wins with Bellio, Buckley is 1-0 in singles play, competing at No. 3. Bellio and Buckley both collected All-Northeast-10 honors as freshman for doubles play. Bellio and sophomore Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) earned second team All-NE-10 honors at No. 1 doubles, while Buckley and Jared Drzal '15 earned second team honors at No. 3 doubles. Bellio was also voted to the NE-10's All-Rookie Team.

Bellio has posted a combined 31-13 record in singles and doubles play in his brief Stonehill career to date. He was 11-7 in singles play his freshman season, including a 5-3 mark in the NE-10, posting an overall record of 11-5 at No. 1 singles. He and Lisichenok were a combined 14-6 in doubles play, including 7-2 in the NE-10. Bellio earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status both semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the fall semester.

Buckley is a combined 19-9 in singles and doubles play in his Stonehill career, including 17-8 for doubles. He and Drzal posted a 10-8 doubles record overall, including 7-3 in the NE-10. Buckley was named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring semester.

Stonehill (1-0, 0-0 NE-10), ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, is in action this weekend for the United State Tennis Association/ITA Division II East Regional, hosted by University of Sciences, in Philadelphia, Saturday through Monday at Legacy Tennis Center.
