Stonehill Posts Six All-Northeast-10 Performers

EASTON, Mass. (May 6, 2015) – Six members of the Stonehill College men's tennis program have received postseason recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performances during the league regular season.

Senior Jonathan Sanders (Holbrook, New York/Saint Anthony's) and junior Philip Klados (Lake Forest, California/Santa Margarita Catholic) both earned All-Northeast-10 honors for singles, while the Skyhawks had two of its doubles teams earn All-NE-10 second team honors. Freshman Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph), while also earning All-Conference honors as part of the Skyhawks No. 1 doubles team, was voted to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team as well.

Klados, an NE-10 All-Rookie team selection as a freshman, earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time with a spot on the second team for No. 6 singles. He finished with an 11-4 overall singles record this season, including a 7-1 mark in Northeast-10 play. Klados posted an 11-2 dual match mark, going 6-2 at No. 6 with wins at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles as well.

Klados, an NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll member four semesters and earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll status three semesters, has posted a career combined record of 49-34 (.590) in singles and doubles play, including 20-9 (.690) in NE-10 play. He is 33-25 over his career in singles matches, including 15-7 in Conference play, to go with a 16-9 career doubles record (5-2 NE-10). Klados collected NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors three times as a freshman.

Bellio and freshman Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) join Klados on the All-NE-10 second team for No. 1 doubles. The duo posted a 14-6 record as a doubles tandem for Stonehill this season, including 7-2 in Northeast-10 matches. They were 12-6 at No. 1 flight to go with a 2-0 mark at No. 2. Bellio posted an overall combined record of 28-13 in singles and doubles play this season, earning NE-10 Player of the Week honors three times and Rookie of the Week accolades five times over the course of his freshman year. He posted an 11-7 singles record, including 5-3 in NE-10 play, to go with an overall doubles mark of 17-6 (7-2 NE-10). Lisichenok, a two-time NE-10 Rookie of the Week, posted a combined 33-14 record in singles and doubles play, posting an 18-7 doubles mark (7-3 NE-10).

Senior Jared Drzal (West Sayville, New York/Sayville) and freshman Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) earn second team All-Northeast-10 honors for No. 3 doubles. The team posted a 10-8 record for Stonehill this season, including a 7-3 mark in NE-10 play. It marks the third All-Northeast-10 award for Drzal who collected third team honors at both No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles as a junior. He has posted a combined record of 23-19 this season, including an 11-7 clip in the NE-10. Drzal, who has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll six semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll five semesters, finished his career with an overall record of 79-39 (.670) in singles and doubles play. He has a singles record of 38-19 over his career, including 15-9 in NE-10 matches, with a 41-20 doubles mark, including 17-6 in the NE-10. Buckley was a combined 15-9 in singles and doubles play in his first collegiate season, splitting his two singles matches, to go with a 14-8 doubles clip, including 7-3 in Conference play.

Sanders earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time in his career with his third team performance at No. 5 singles. He finished 9-4 this season in singles matches, including 5-2 in NE-10 play, to go with an overall doubles mark of 15-8 (4-3 NE-10) with three different playing partners. Sanders finished his career with a combined overall record of 64-23 (.736) in singles and doubles play, including 24-9 (.727) in NE-10 play. He has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll five semesters and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll two semesters and posted a 20-5 record in singles play over his career, including 11-2 in the NE-10, and a 44-18 mark doubles clip.

Stonehill capped its 2014-15 season with a 15-6 record overall, including 8-2 in the Northeast-10 to earn the No. 3 seed for the NE-10 Tournament where the Skyhawks advanced to the semifinal round. Stonehill is ranked ninth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings.
