Bellio wins at top-flight singles and doubles for Skyhawks 

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (April 11, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked ninth in the first NCAA Division II East Regional rankings of the year released on Wednesday, rolled to its fifth straight win with a 9-0 decision over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action at The EDGE this afternoon.

Freshman Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) led five double-winners for Stonehill with victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. He teamed up with classmate Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and then followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Saint Michael's senior Billy Wood. Lisichenok was also among the double-winners for the Skyhawks by adding a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles against sophomore Patrick Dietz.

Seniors Tom Alaimo (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) and Jon Sanders (Holbrook, New York/Saint Anthony's) combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles for Stonehill. Alaimo battled past junior Charlie Merrie at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (7-1), 6-3, 10-5, while Sanders cruised past sophomore Hayden Steward 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Senior Jared Drzal (West Sayville, New York/Sayville) rounded out the Skyhawks who earned two points on Saturday, posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles against junior Sam Laves after teaming up with freshman Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM) for an 8-1 triumph at No. 3 doubles. Senior Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) chipped in with an 8-0 decision at No. 6 singles for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill (12-4, 7-1 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow when it hosts University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for a non-conference dual match at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 1 p.m. Saint Michael's (1-8, 1-7 NE-10) hosts Assumption on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
