Lisichenok Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (March 18, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's tennis by the league office.

Lisichenok earns Rookie of the Week honors for the first time after posting a combined 5-3 record in singles and doubles play in a 2-2 week for Stonehill on its annual spring break trip. He posted a 3-1 singles mark, going 2-1 at No. 4, while also winning at match at No. 3, and teamed up with classmate Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) for a 2-2 mark at No. 1 doubles. Lisichenok was a double-winner in Stonehill's wins over the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) and Eastern Nazarene College, while also adding a three-set victory at No. 4 singles against Saint Cloud State University.

Lisichenok is a combined 18-7 in his first collegiate season for Stonehill. He has posted an 8-4 singles record, including a 2-0 mark in Northeast-10 matches, while going 10-3 in doubles with two different playing partners. He and Bellio have teamed up for a 6-3 record, including 2-0 in NE-10 play. Lisichenok earned a spot on both the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls following his first semester at the College.

Stonehill (6-3, 2-0 NE-10) is back in action on Thursday when it visits Wheaton College for a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks first NE-10 home match of the spring season scheduled for Saturday against Assumption College has been postponed.
