Wayne State Defeats Stonehill, 8-1

Bellio wins at No. 1 singles for Skyhawks 

HAINES CITY, Fla. (March 12, 2015) – Wayne State University of Michigan posted an 8-1 victory against Stonehill College in non-conference men's tennis action at Lake Eva Tennis Center today.

Sophomore Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) led Wayne State as a double-winner with points at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. He combined with senior Trey Keating (Troy, Michigan/Troy) for an 8-3 doubles win and then added a 6-2, 6-3 win over Stonehill senior Tom Alaimo (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic). Keating was also a double-winner for the Warriors with his 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles against senior Jon Sanders (Holbrook, New York/Saint Anthony's).

Sophomore Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) earned Stonehill's point with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 triumph at No. 1 singles against junior Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France).

Stonehill (6-3, 2-0 NE-10) returns to the courts next Thursday, March 19, when it visits Wheaton College at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks next home match is Saturday, March 21, against Assumption College for a Northeast-10 match at 1 p.m. Wayne State (3-5, 1-1 GLIAC) faces Vincennes tomorrow in Orlando at 10:30 a.m.
