Bellio and Lisichenok lead Skyhawks again 

EASTON, Mass. (October 2, 2014) – Stonehill College swept the six singles matches after winning two of three doubles matches on its way to an 8-1 victory over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action in the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex this afternoon.

Freshmen Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) and Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) again led the way as double-winners for Stonehill. The duo claimed one of the Skyhawks two doubles points with their 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles. Bellio followed by breezing to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Saint Anselm freshman Adam Weinstein (Vernon Rockville, Connecticut/East Catholic). Lisichenok added a 6-3, 6-1 win over freshman Eric Howes (Shawnee, Kansas/Mill Valley) at No. 3.

Junior Gerard Tierney (Marshfield, Massachusetts/Marshfield) and freshman Jeffrey Gagnon (Providence, Rhode Island/The Wheeler School) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill, starting with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Gagnon added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles against junior Andrew Overton (Woodbury, Connecticut/Nonnewaug), while Tierney defeated freshman Benji Page (Concord, Massachusetts/Gould Academy) 8-4 in a pro-set match at No. 6. Junior Philip Klados (Lake Forest, California/Santa Margarita Catholic) picked up a point for the Skyhawks with his 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles against freshman Brian Kavanagh (Wilbraham, Massachusetts/Minnechaug Regional). Senior Jared Drzal (West Sayville, New York/Sayville) posted a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4 against freshman Kyle Harris (North Reading, Massachusetts/North Reading).

Kavanagh and Harris teamed up to pick up the lone Saint Anselm point with their 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles against Drzal and freshman Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM).

Stonehill (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) returns to the courts on Saturday when it hosts Endicott College for a non-conference matchup at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 11 a.m. Saint Anselm (0-3, 0-3 NE-10) visits College of Saint Rose on Saturday.
