Skyhawks victorious in first match in over a week behind four double winners

EASTON, Mass. (April 6, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked eighth in this week's NCAA Division II East Regional rankings and tenth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional rankings, swept to a 9-0 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts today.

Senior Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien), junior Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and sophomores Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) and Thomas Alaimo (North Andover, Mass./Central Catholic) were all double-winners to lead Stonehill to its third straight Conference win. Martin and Ringstad combined for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and then Ringstad claimed a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 1 singles over Le Moyne sophomore Shane Evans (Oswego, N.Y./Pulaski). Martin breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over freshman Blaine Drake (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker).

Hyzak and Alaimo combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and then Hyzak followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over junior Alessandro Nieves (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). Alaimo also posted a 6-2, 6-3 straight sets win at No. 3 singles over junior Daryl Johnson (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Freshman Philip Klados (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over grad student Michael Green (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), while sophomore Jared Drzal (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) registered a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles over senior Robert Brooks (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton).

Junior Brett Armstrong (Manville, N.Y./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and sophomore Jonathan Sanders (Holbrook, N.Y./St. Anthony's) completed a sweep of the three doubles matches for Stonehill with their 8-2 win at No. 3 over Drake and freshman Tyler Shaban (Liverpool, N.Y./C.W. Baker).

Stonehill (14-5, 6-1 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow for a non-conference matchup with Roberts Wesleyan University here at Watt Courts at 11 a.m. Le Moyne (1-9, 0-7 NE-10) visits Franklin Pierce University tomorrow for an NE-10 matchup at noon.
