Klados Earns NE-10 Rookie of the Week Honors

Lake Forest, Calif., freshman collects weekly award for second time

EASTON, Mass. (March 12, 2013) – Stonehill College freshman Philip Klados (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office today.

Klados, who earns Rookie of the Week honors for the second time, helped lead Stonehill to a 3-2 start to its second semester schedule during its annual spring break trip to Central Florida last week. He posted three wins, going 2-2 in singles play for the Skyhawks. Klados was a double-winner in Stonehill's 9-0 win over Moravian (Pa.) College, claiming a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles over Lewis Cooper after teaming up with sophomore Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Klados also registered a 7-5, 6-4 win over Berry (Ga.) College's Austinn Miller.

Klados is a combined 18-10 in singles and doubles play to start his collegiate career. He is 9-5 in singles matches, including a 1-0 clip in NE-10 contests, going 5-3 at No. 3. Klados is a combined 7-4 for doubles, split between four different partners.

Stonehill (9-2, 3-0 NE-10), ranked ninth in the ITA East Regional rankings, returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Eastern Nazarene College for a non-conference matchup at Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks also host New York Institute of Technology on Sunday at 11 a.m.
