Klados Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

Lake Forest, Calif., freshman receives first weekly honor after helping Skyhawks to NE-10win

EASTON, Mass. (October 3, 2012) – Stonehill College freshman Philip Klados (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office.

Klados was among four double-winners for Stonehill in Saturday's 8-1 NE-10 dual match victory over Saint Michael's College. He posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles over Saint Michael's senior Chris Moskal. Klados also teamed up with sophomore Jared Drzal (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) for an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Klados, who earns the first NE-10 weekly honor of his career, is a combined 9-4 in singles and doubles play to start his collegiate career. He is 4-2 in singles play, including a 1-0 clip in NE-10 matches, going 2-1 at No. 3. Klados is a combined 5-2 for doubles, split between three different partners.

Klados comes to Stonehill after a strong four year career at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He competed at No. 2 singles as a senior for the Eagles and finished third in the Trinity League.

Stonehill (5-0, 3-0 NE-10) is back in action on Friday when it hosts Endicott College for a non-conference matchup at 3 p.m. Please note this match has been postponed from its originally schedule date of Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Skyhawks will host its Stonehill Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
