EASTON, Mass. (September 19, 2012) – Stonehill College sophomore Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for men's tennis by the league office.

Ringstad, the 2011-12 NE-10 Rookie of the Year, earns Player of the Week honors for the first time this season (third career) after leading Stonehill to a perfect start to its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with wins over Franklin Pierce University and Saint Anselm College over the weekend. He was a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play over the two victories. Ringstad rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Franklin Pierce's Jared Taylor after he and junior Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Ringstad held off Saint Anselm's Chris Schwab 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 on Saturday after he and Hyzak fought for a 9-7 doubles win.

Ringstad is a combined 6-2 in singles and doubles play in his second season at Stonehill. He and Hyzak have combined to post a 4-1 mark in doubles play, including the 2-0 clip in NE-10 matches. Ringstad is 2-1 in singles play at the No. 1 spot in the Skyhawks lineup with the 2-0 NE-10 clip.

Ringstad, an All-Northeast-10 performer for singles and doubles during his freshman season, has posted a 40-16 combined record in singles and doubles play over his career so far. He is 20-7 in singles matches, including an 11-2 mark in NE-10 play, going 17-5 at the No. 1 position in the Skyhawks lineup. He has a combined 20-9 doubles record, including 10-3 in NE-10 matches. Ringstad and Hyzak have teamed up to post an 18-8 doubles record, going 9-2 in NE-10 matches and 4-1 at the No. 1 position in the lineup. The duo also reached the semifinals of the B-doubles bracket at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional last September. Ringstad also advanced to the Round of 16 for the Championship singles bracket at the ITA East Regional.

Stonehill (3-0, 2-0 NE-10) is back in action on Friday when it visits Chestnut Hill College for a big early season regional clash at noon. The Skyhawks will then participate in the ITA East Regional held at the Arthur Ash Center in Philadelphia Saturday through Monday.
