Ringstad Collects Fourth NE-10 Rookie of the Week Award

North Andover, Mass., freshman caps fall season with fifth weekly award overall

EASTON, Mass. (October 20, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's tennis for the fourth time this season by the league office. It marks the fifth-straight week a Skyhawks freshman has earned the award with classmate Thomas Alaimo (North Andover, Mass./Central Catholic) collecting the honors last week after three-straight to open the fall season by Ringstad.

Ringstad, who has also been named the NE-10 Player of the Week once this fall, was a double-winner in Stonehill's 8-1 win over Clark University in its lone match of the week to close out the fall season. He posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Clark freshman Zack Goodstein at No. 1 singles at teaming up with sophomore Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) at No. 2 doubles.

Ringstad has posted a 14-3 combined record in singles and doubles play through the fall season for Stonehill to open his collegiate career. He is 7-2 in singles play, going 4-0 at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks, including a 3-0 mark in NE-10 play. Ringstad and Hyzak are 7-1 in doubles action, reaching the semifinals of the B-doubles bracket at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional last month and also posting a 4-0 mark at No. 2 doubles, including a 3-0 mark in NE-10 matches. Ringstad also advanced to the Round of 16 for the Championship singles bracket at the ITA East Regional.

Stonehill (4-0, 3-0 NE-10), ranked tenth in the ITA East Regional rankings, is off until the spring semester. The spring schedule will be posted online at www.stonehillskyhawks.com in the coming weeks.
