Junior Manoli Sqouros (Forest Hills, N.Y./Holy Cross) led Philadelphia as a double-winner, picking up wins at third singles and first doubles, teaming up with classmate Adrian Torroella-Cruz (Gainsville, Fla./Gainesville) for an 8-4 victory at first doubles. Junior Eric Guerrero (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic) clinched the win for the Rams with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Stonehill freshman Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) at fifth singles.
Junior Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) was a double-winner for Stonehill, posting a 7-5, 6-0 win at fourth singles after teaming up with Hyzak for an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles. Senior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Torreolla-Cruz at first singles for the Skyhawks.
Philadelphia sophomore Kyle Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) defeated his older brother, senior Jonathan Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) of Stonehill, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Stonehill freshman Brett Armstrong (Manville, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) won a back and forth battle at No. 6 singles against Rams senior Seppi Hutter (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue), 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Stonehill (4-2, 1-1 NE-10) is right back in action today when it squares off against Saint Ambrose College in Orlando, Fla. Philadelphia (6-1, 0-0 CACC) faces the University of Indianapolis today at 11:30 a.m.
