Fayed Earns Second-Straight NE-10 Player of the Week Award

Glastonbury, Conn., native caps fall season with tenth career weekly honor

EASTON, Mass. (October 14, 2010) – Stonehill College senior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) has earned his second-straight Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week honor for men's tennis by the league office to close out the fall season.

Fayed, who earns the honors for the tenth time over his career, captured the No. 1-flight singles championship at this weekend's Stonehill Invitational to lead the Skyhawks to a second-place team finish at the event. He won all three matches over the two day event, capped by a 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 10-4 win over Max Eppley of Merrimack College in the final. Fayed opened the weekend with a 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 10-4 win over Wheaton College's Neall Oliver in the quarterfinals before topping Curry College's Greg Kirschner, 6-3, 6-1, in the semifinals.

Fayed has posted a 10-6 combined singles and doubles record so far during the fall season. He is 7-3 this season in singles play, posting a 3-2 mark in dual matches at first singles, including a 1-1 clip in NE-10 play, while he and freshman Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) have combined to post a 3-3 mark in doubles play, going 3-2 in dual matches (1-1 NE-10).

Fayed, the 2009 NE-10 Player of the Year, has posted a career singles record of 54-13 at Stonehill, including a 26-4 record in NE-10 matches. He has also compiled a 53-19 doubles mark, featuring a 25-4 record against NE-10 competition. Fayed is a three-time All-Northeast-10 performer in both singles and doubles, earning first team honors at singles as a sophomore when he was NE-10 Player of the Year with a perfect 10-0 clip in NE-10 matches, and he has earned first team All-Conference doubles honors as a freshman and sophomore.

Stonehill has completed its fall schedule and will carry a 4-1 overall record, 1-1 NE-10, into the spring season.
