Stonehill Duo Collects NE-10 Weekly Honors

Fayed named Player of the Week for ninth time in career
Hyzak collects first Rookie of the Week selection

EASTON, Mass. (October 6, 2010) – Two members of the Stonehill College men's tennis team earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference. Senior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was named the NE-10's Player of the Week, while freshman Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) earned Rookie of the Week honors from the league office.

Fayed, who earns Player of the Week honors for the first time this season (ninth career), posted a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play in leading Stonehill to a pair of wins over the weekend. He was 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles for the Skyhawks, opening with a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory in Saturday's 8-1 win over Salve Regina University after combining with Hyzak for a 9-7 doubles victory. Fayed posted a 6-4, 6-0 singles win in Sunday's 9-0 sweep of Curry College after he and Hyzak notched an 8-3 doubles win.

Fayed has posted a 7-6 combined singles and doubles record so far during the fall season. He is 4-3 this season in singles play, posting a 3-2 mark in dual matches at first singles, including a 1-1 clip in NE-10 play, while he and Hyzak have posted a 3-3 mark in doubles play, going 3-2 in dual matches (1-1 NE-10).

Fayed, the 2009 NE-10 Player of the Year, has posted a career singles record of 51-13 at Stonehill, including a 26-4 record in NE-10 matches. He has also compiled a 53-19 doubles mark, featuring a 25-4 record against NE-10 competition. Fayed is a three-time All-Northeast-10 performer in both singles and doubles, earning first team honors at singles as a sophomore when he was NE-10 Player of the Year with a perfect 10-0 clip in NE-10 matches, and he has earned first team All-Conference doubles honors as a freshman and sophomore.

Hyzak collects his first Rookie of the Week award after posting a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play as well for Stonehill last weekend. In addition to winning both matches at first doubles with Fayed, Hyzak cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win against Salve Regina at No. 4 singles on Saturday before picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win at Curry on Sunday.

Hyzak has had an impressive start to his collegiate career, posting an 8-1 record in singles play, including a 5-0 clip in dual match play, reaching the quarterfinal round of the B-singles draw at last month's USTA/ITA East Regional. He is 4-0 at fourth singles and 1-0 at No. 3 and has combined with Fayed to post a 3-3 clip at No. 1 doubles for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill (4-1, 1-1 NE-10) is back in action this weekend when it closes out its fall season by hosting the Stonehill Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
