Skyhawks Make Quick Work Of Assumption

Easton, Mass. – The Stonehill men’s tennis
team need under an hour and a half to advance to the semifinals of
the NE-10 tournament with a 5-0 victory over Assumption on
Wednesday afternoon at the Ames Sports Complex.
The Skyhawks began play by sweeping doubles action as the duo of
sophomore Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.) won 8-3.
Seniors Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) and
Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) took No. 2 doubles
by a 8-1 score and the No. 3 doubles team of Mike
Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) and Charlie
Sherman (Heloron, Conn.) won 8-2.
In singles action, only Herchel and Allegretti finished play,
winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 respetively. The Skyhawks
improve to 19-3 on the season, setting a new single season win mark
for the program while also extending their school record winning
streak to 14 games.
Stonehill returns to action on Friday when they host the winner of
Southern New Hampshire and St. Michael’s at 3:00 p.m.
