Easton, Mass. - Behind a devastating display in the doubles matches, top-seeded Stonehill cruised past Southern New Hampshire, 5-0, to advance to their second straight Northeast-10 Championship match which will take place on Sunday afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the Stonehill College campus.

With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 20-3 overall, while the Penmen wrap up their 2009 season at 7-5.

The doubles combinations of Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.) at No. 1 and Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) and Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) at No. 2 each registered 8-2 wins.

No. 3 doubles, consisting of Mike Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) and Charlie Sherman (Heloron, Conn.) won their match 8-4, giving Stonehill a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Leone (No. 3) and Allegretti (No. 4) each collected straight set wins, with Leone, knocking off Mike Ricciardi 6-1, 6-0 and Allegretti defeating John Niland, 6-1, 6-2.

Stonehill will face Merrimack in the championship match - a team they defeated 7-2 to claim its first-ever outright regular season Northeast-10 title just one week ago.
