Men Sweep Doubles Events in Season Opener
Bristol, R.I - Led by first doubles team William Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) and Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) the Stonehill College Men's Tennis team (1-0, 0-0 Northeast-10 Conference) took their 2007-2008 season opener at Roger Williams University, 8-1.
The Skyhawks received three victories (8-5, 8-5, 8-4) as the men
improved to 3-0 in doubles competition. Herchel and
Mashkevich got the ball rolling, defeating Roger Williams' Dan
Roberts and Dan Kleitz, 8-5.
Mike Leone (Cataumet, Mass./Bourne) and Jon Burke
(Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) completed a 2-0 day with a
doubles victory over Brad Bolte and Steve Burger, 8-5. Leone
and Burke went on to claim wins at second and fifth singles,
respectfully.
Stonehill's will travel to LeMoyne College tomorrow for their first Northeast-10 Conference match of the season.
