Stonehill Wins Third Straight to Close Fall Duels
Dudley, Mass. - The Stonehill Men's Tennis team finished their fall schedule on a high note, claiming an 8-1 win over Nichols College. The match marked the third time this fall the men have won by the score 8-1.
William Herchel (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) and Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) were the only members of the Stonehill squad to lose, 9-7 in first doubles competition. However, Herchel, a junior, bounced back in first singles competition, claiming a 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 win over Nichols' Jack Baker.
Freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) improved to 3-0 with a win at second singles. He beat Tyler McLaughlin in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Fayed later joined teammate Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) to claim an 8-2 win at second singles.
Senior captain Michael Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) improved to 3-0 with a sixth singles win (6-0, 6-2). He also teamed with sophomore Matt Pacino (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) for a victory at third doubles (8-1).
