Skyhawks Down Dolphins, 8-1
Syracuse, N.Y. - The Stonehill College Men's Tennis team (2-0, 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference) claimed their first conference victory of 2007-2008 with an 8-1 win over the LeMoyne College Dolphins. The Skyhawks improved to 2-0 away from the Stonehill Courts with the road win.
Freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) led the way for the Skyhawks, defeating Jason Kersznouski and Josh Patterson, 8-1. Fayed went on to win second singles (6-7, 6-1, 6-4) while teammate Burke defeated LeMoyne's Josh Patterson 6-1, 6-3.
Senior captain Mike Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) improved with a win at six singles (6-1, 6-1) and third doubles (8-6). Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I/Lincoln) took his match to the limit, winning 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 over Chris Meeker.
The men travel to Nichols College next week for their third match of the fall. The match is scheduled for September 29th.
